Alpha Stage One - Summary

Stage One (to have everything up and running properly) is drawing to an end. I first entered Tildruin like a hyperactive kid in a candy store, and that feeling hasn't left. I noticed recently that some say we have sure taken our fair share of time testing, I think it is much like the best wines - they get better with age (and kept in a nice, dark, cool place, but I think that is just the players).

While both of the other testers initially had a few FPS problems I managed to enjoy a relitively good frame rate, but since then it has got even better. I can now enjoy a healthy 200fps while standing still with all options toggled on as witnessed by this delightful [ picture ]. Also in that screen shot is another player and the first NPC we've encountered, a priest, with an interesting conversation waiting, one thread of that conversation (after I finally found him running about!) can be seen [ here ]. I will point out that one of the commands I tried didn't work, that was just due to a 'toggle' being 'toggled' on the server, or something of that manner, it now works perfectly.

Yes, a few bugs were encountered as we pottered around our mini-forest, these were fixed with astonishing speed.

With the conclusion of stage one, the goal of which was to get everything up and running as smoothly and optimally as possible; I feel awed, hopeful, and jubilant.

Firstly, as you might've noticed from the screenshots I've posted, my framerates were not 'spectacular'. At current however, they've been improved to a point I thought unachievable. Take a look for yourself, compare the [ before ] and [ after ]. The screenshots speak for themselves, the improvement was about 180 fps, whilst performing the same action (standing still)! In addition new fuctionally is being added and more features are being enabled. For example, the new 'screenshot' function allows you to quickly and easily take screenshots. You can see the new feature within this [ screenshot ], which also portrays the new NPC priest that characters may interact with.

There were a couple of bugs that needed to be fixed and to the best of my knowledge (as far as testing has shown), they have been. Everything is progressing smoothly and steadily.

As stage one of the alpha testing, "get everything up running smooth and nice" comes to an end I'm very pleased with the progress so far. After a little shock with extremely low fps at our first test the last tested version of the game was like heaven. Fps got up around 1500% and now the game runs smoothly on my 450 mhz. The bugs we hunted down have been fixed to my knowledge and i have great faith in the developers.
