Alpha Stage One - Preliminary

Tildruin, 'The Game' if you will, has for a long time been fun to monitor as the developers worked away for years. The thought of a game where you could be anything and do anything thrilled me. From a website with a mailing list it has become a frequently updated site with a forum bursting with life. A lot of this was due to one, enchanting, excellent thing: Alpha Testing.

The beginning of Alpha Testing thrilled me, but in one particular section I worried: my internet connection. Currently it is just a single ISDN line. Fortunately, it worked brilliantly.

The animations of the client were fluid and responsive. There were a few performance aspects that haven't been perfected as of yet. However, overall the client is remarkable.

The [ screenshot ] details myself and a fellow testing exploring a small area. At that moment I was taking a look at both the wonderful descriptions of the areas, and the intriguing '/me' like system of the emote, along with other commands.

I was overly apprehensive about the prospect of Alpha testing, with my slower processor and rather dated computer. I had a number of doubts about how Tildruin was going to run, if it was to run at all. To my utter amazement and ultimate delight, it worked!

Although the performance is not optimal, it was far better than I had anticipated.

The goal of the current stage is to optimize performance; making sure that everything runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Reports of bugs are being filed, reviewed, and worked upon.

For those who hunger a glimpse, heres a [ screenshot ] to sate. Notice that a square shaped view is utilized in lieu of the earlier diamond shaped view, shown in earlier screenshots.

In summary, Alpha has commenced and is well under way. You can expect further news, as they occur.

Finally, after months of waiting we're finally there. After login we were met by an area of sparse forrest were we could walk around chatting, trying different commands suchs as emotes and speaking. Animations were nice, but there were some performance issues which are beeing handled at the moment. The client gave a very good overall impression and I'm looking forward to future updates.
