It's been quite awhile since I've updated or worked on the site. Hopefully I can garner up enough motivation to work on it once again.

Finally managed to fix the rendering problem. If you experience any problems, or slow-downs, please let me know.

Apparently there's a weird rendering bug that's just popped up on several of the pages. Not quite sure what's causing it, but I'm looking into it.

Basically it's causing the lower part of some pages not to be rendered correctly and it looks quite ghastly as a result. I'll try and resolve this as soon as possible.

Still working out some quirks in the site. Having some trouble getting some of the screenshot thumbnails to display correctly in internet explorer.

Also working on some additional functionality for the site, hopefully they'll be up and working sometime in the future (vague, isn't it?).

I'm currently in the process of updating the site layout, content management system, and will hopefully have a stage summary up by sometime Monday.

Update: The layout should now be "liquid" (i.e. adjusts to your resolution and screen size). In addition I've also added a feature on the sidebar so that you can adjust your font size more easily.

Currently I'm working on implementing some structural changes to the site. Nothing really noticeable, but it'll save me an immense amount of time during updates. Basically, I'm using PHP to "template out" the site layout and using some variables here and there to make navigation easier. You'll see this reflected in the page titles in your browser title bar.

In addition, this'll be advantageous since I'll only have to update two files when changing layouts instead of 50 or more...

The update is still not complete since I'm a bit busy for the next few weeks as school draws to a close.

The Tildruin forums are currently down, the problem is being addressed.

From Shailejron:

There is some technical problem with the BBS that our ISP is looking into.

Another patch has been released. This patch basically addresses some bugs and extends some functionality.

From Shailejron,

This patch features:

- tiny sized items of the same type now form piles on the ground (try using coins from your purse)
- socials can now be directed to everyone using "all", i.e. wave all
- the escape key was disabled
- collect earlier swept the ground. It now also sweeps the inventory

I'm now trying to post updates on current patches on the Tildruin client during each stage within the 'Events' section. Basically this will be a very brief synopsis of each patch, meant just to keep everyone up to date on the latest happenings.

I'm also working on implementing the search function for the news script. Making some progress, but it still has a ways to go wassat.

The Tildruin client patch 0.6g has been released to alpha testers.

Changes included (from Shailejron):

- the old character model was changed to halfling
- a new character model was added for male humans and the one you now login with. Dress and armor are not yet reflected in the visual appearance of the human.
- The map data related to terrain has been recoded and optimized to send 30-60% less data (depending on the map)

This update has been in the works for over a month. I was hoping to have it completed during spring break but didn't quite make it.

The layout of the site has been changed to a fixed width, which will allow for some more control. I've also make the font size larger for ease for reading. The color scheme was also changed to suit the new banner.

I've also switched to a more powerful news/content management script. You'll now be able to comment on articles and news items, so there'll be more interaction.

As always, if you find any broken links, or have any other problems. Please let me know.

Update in progress...

The 'Quest', as dubbed by many, is the first interactive, IRC, Tildruin based, role-playing event for a wider audience, perhaps the first of many. So, what is it? Set in the wide and varied world of Tildruin the 'Quest' is a tale of mystery, action, excitement and discovery; beneath the starting point of the 'Quest' (the main city of Tildruin) a great evil lies in wait, ready to strike out and destroy everything that is held dear. At the end of the last 'Race War' gifts were forged for the combatants, only a member of each race could wear their gifts. The gifts, of unknown origin, were to be brought together and unite the races, one-day; this day has come. Now, to save the Tildruin world a most unusual group has to hunt down and find these gifts. The group will encounter hardships from pirates to mountainous tundra, but all of these must be defeated in order to bring the gifts to the great evil and open the chamber to destroy it. If they cannot destroy it, they have just released the great evil to the world, the gifts can only harm the beast, not kill it; all of the group combined must strike it down. As no good deed goes unrewarded the 'Quest' does not either, rumour states that beyond the beast is mounds and mounts of gold, rubies, emeralds and much, much more.

Interested? Then join in, sessions alternate between Saturday and Sunday at 7pm GMT on the #tildruin IRC Channel. More information may be learned, here.
