Varadrion was just young when his life was changed forever. His family lived on the outskirts of the elven lands, and he was just like any other young child. He was 7 years old, a tiny infant by elf age standards, but already he was growing smart. his family consisted of him and his parents, and they always got along wonderfully. As a child, Varadrion was always gifted physically, bein very quick and nimble, and somehow very adept at being quiet. He was a bit of an introvert, prefering to be alone and practise anything he found interesting, but he was not afraid to be with the other children, and so his parents were not worried about the future of their son.
One day, during a time of peace a small band of orcs came to the elven village. Having interacted with orcs before, the people accepted the new visitors, and thought nothing of them in their quiet town. But this group was different. They all looked like warriors, not the peaceful peasant orcs that usually came through. They were also very cruel to the elves, pushing them aside or insulting their culture and homes. One day, Varadrion's father invited the orcs into their house to see if they could not make the orcs feel better and possibly become nicer. Because this was a time for adults, Varadrion was asked to play out in the yard. Later on in the night, when it became clear the orcs had no intent of being nice, Varadrion's parents asked, on behalf of the village, if the orcs would please leave. At this, the orcs became suddenly violent, throwing both the adults against the wall. They asked the old elf to repeat his question, and he did. It was his father's bravery and commitment to his town that saw Varadion become an orphan. At the repeat of the question, the orc stabbed the father in the stomach, and left him. His wife screamed loudly. Because of this loud scream, Varadrion hid behind one of the majestic trees in his backyard. The orcs then stabbed his mother in the stomach, in full iew of Varadrion, who was peeking out from behind the tree. The screaming drew other elves to the house, but at this point, the orcs had no interest in peaceful talk, the weapons were drawn, and the peaceful, unprepared elves were slaughtered in droves. Only a few, hidden elves survived the massacre, but the damage had been done, having no parents and noone to turn to Varadrion ran into the forest, but he did not run like we think of running, he ran for days... not thinking he would ever stop.
He would have kept running, except he fell upon something not meant for young eyes. It was the burial grounds of the protectors, the elven warriors who watched over the village silently, preventing evil from interfering with the lives of these peaceful people. there were weapons lying everywhere, the old weapons of these warriors, left at the site as a memorial to the fallen heroes. Varadrion was interested in these weapons, and instinctively felt a power coming from them. This place in the forest, this place of forgotten memories, served as his home. He lived off the fruit of the trees, and hunted animals when he could. He quickly learned that the dangerous animals always hunted at night, and so this was a time when he could not afford to sleep. He slept during the day at the burial ground, and looked for food and hunted at night. Slowly he developed skills that aided him in hunting creatures. Staying in the shadows, moving silently, and accuracy and power with his sword, the only weapon he took from the burial ground. He spent 20 years training in the forest, vowing to protect anyone he could from the brutality and evil he witnessed as a child. He has always harbourded a dislike for orcs, but knows that not all are like the ones he lost his family to.
Only later on, after killing an orc commander that had attacked some traders, did he learn that the group that destroyed his village had no interest in being peaceful. They were a scout group, but when they noticed that this village was not prepared whatsoever to fight, they took it upon themselves to clear them out.
After this point, he decided he would find these orcs and make them pay for what they did to all the innocent people in his village. Deciding that he could not carry all the weapons he trained with, he decided upon two. A longsword that was said to have a powerful enchantment, which he still did not know. And some throwing daggers. He has left the forest to look for anyone who would harm the innocent, and vows not to stop until he has cleansed his homeland, or died trying.
