I am Morwyr Broadleaf. I was born in Evylee, from a normal halfling family. My father was a farmer and my mother was a retired chef, because she wanted to spend more time taking care of her two sons, me and my big brother Alril.
We lived in a modest cottage with a big garden, looked after my mother, and located in the hillside of Mervin Hill, near the limits of the city. Behind the garden there was fathers farm. It was a large terrain, with lots of tomato orchards, and a little lettuce one too. Between the garden and the tomatoes there were also some fruit trees, with apples, pitches, oranges among others. Also it had a little farmyard for pigs. Alril, being the elder, is the one who must take care of fathers farm in the future. But he doesnt seem to be interested in that sort of things.
Our garden was always very clean and beautiful because of the good work of my mother. There was only one day that it was messy and unclean, the family day. It was celebrated every year, and loads of relatives came to our home. Some of them were very distant and I only saw them in those occasions. Everyone came with their goods, collaborating for the feast. It was prepared by my mother, helped by aunts and uncles. The whole garden was settled to entertain the people, lots of food, drink and music. During and after the feast there were acts from anyone who could do something, tell a short story, a joke, acrobatic demonstrations, and so on. There were always some adults who frightened the little ones with stories about orcs and trolls kidnapping children and destroying houses as they passed through the city in the Battle of Mervin Hill. After eating and drinking, the party started and everyone started to dance. Near the end of the party the whole family danced the typical halfling dance, with grandfather leading the group. It finished near midnight. The next days we had a hard work cleaning up the garden.
My father had to wake up everyday early in the morning to work in his farm. He was always happy and smiling, though it was a very hard work. Sometimes I and Alril helped him in his work, it was exhausting! When the goods were ready, he carried it by cart to the city of Alure. Lots of times I went with him. Wile he was trading his goods with the elves I went to walk in the city, astonished by the city itself, and its inhabitants. When it was possible I also went to visit the woods and walk throw them, but always near the city. After trading my father was very happy, because the elves were very interested in his merchandise, so they offered good money for them. Back in Evylee my father use to buy some gifts for us, and then he invited some friends to drink celebrate in the bar.
Most halflings in Evylee dedicate their lives to farming as my father did, so our neighbourhood was plenty of farms, and we used to sneak throw them, exploring. We always had trouble with the guys from the tobacco fields, and lots of times we got into fights with them. These brawls were about slingshot fighting. We also used to throw them some tomatoes from our orchards. My father never punished us after those fights, he was quite glad. He hated them too. A couple of times me and Alril snaked into their tobacco fields to borrow some tobacco for my father and for us. We usually smoked our pipes hidden from our parents, near the farmyard.
One time we had a real trouble wile sneaking throw the other farms...We were walking throw a huge apple orchard near the northern edge of the city, quite far from our home. It was a hot summers evening and we were exhausted, so we stopped to rest for a while, protected by the shadow of one of the biggest trees in the orchard. During our rest we ate a picnic prepared by our mother. Ten minutes later we heard a loud noise in our backs, and before I could turn around two heavy hands trapped me. At first I thought it was a bad joke from the owner of the orchard, but when I looked to Alril, who could escape from the guy who caught me; I noticed in his eyes a big fear. And soon the same fear filled my mind. Alril was courageous, and after a while he overcome his fear and tried to help me, at the same time I started to struggle trying to slip out of his hands. But our efforts were useless, because the man drew a long knife from under his hood and threatened to kill me. My blood run cold and all my life passed in front of my eyes in a few seconds. Then he told us to give everything we had to him, and soon the hooded man was escaping very quickly with all the things we gave him. The things he stole from us were only a few, but the fear I felt was bigger than what I thought I could resist. If we only had stayed at home, helping our father in his job, nothing of this would have happened. From then on we stopped sneaking for a long time.
I had always enjoyed going to the temple as much as being surrounded by nature. Theres a huge one in Evylee and I used to go there, and more frequently after that scaring assault scene. I enjoyed talking with the druid who runs the temple, amazed at the wisdom of his words and expression, as he passed me down knowledge by telling old stories, adventures, legends, and explaining me everything about nature, animals and plants. Gradually I started to visit the temple more and more often, and my mother sometimes scolded me, because I was more at the temple than at home. Thus I realized that that was what I wanted to be in my life, a druid, but it wasnt so easy, because it required a lot of studying, practicing, and time. That druid told me most of the things I know now, the basics for being a priest, because everything goes step by step, still there is much to learn, and a vast world to explore.
