Alpha Happenings
Many have been wondering about the current status of alpha testing, this article briefly addresses this question.
At the moment, the third stage of alpha testing (dealing with inventory) has ended. The goal of this stage was for players to interact with various items. This involved having testers pick up and drop items, view their inventory both graphically and using text, and transferring items from one player to another. Features included having the ability to 'drag and drop' items and skills to the shortcut menu for easier access, and a right-click context menu that gave players various commands (only 'examine' was enabled). The stage went smoothly with only a couple of bugs found. Usually, I would have some screenshots, along with this type of summary. Unfortunately, the screenshots I had are lost. Hopefully, there'll be some in the coming future.
Furthermore, a new client is primed for release. Unfortunately the Tildruin server is, as stated by Shailejron, having "severe hardware problems". The good news is that a new server will be purchased and setup. Shailejron will be/is travelling to Croatia until the end of July, and the setup will not occur until this time.
The happiest news, or perhaps what many have been waiting for is that a new batch of testers will be admitted with the new server. The following is a list (excerpted from a message by Shailejron) of the planned phases that will occur at the end/following summer vacation:
1. Equipment
2. Items (implementing descriptions, material properties, functionality etc.)
3. NPCs (shops, guild-masters, bankers, etc.)
4. Scripting NPCs
5. Network fixes (Addressing issues caused by lag, such as jagged animation)
6. Graphical fixes (Including houses, terrain etc.)
7. Area building (Tools will at first be crude, but will be refined with your help/input)
In addition, the 'item descriptions team' have been hard at work. So expect to see some superb descriptions once you enter the game.
Thanks for reading.
